Court Sentences Man to Serve 8 Years in State Prison Following Domestic Violence Knife Attack in Windsor

SANTA ROSA, CA | May 28, 2026

Defendant Daniel Omrado-Gonzalez (AKA Daniel Tirado) a transient 43-year-old, was sentenced today by the Honorable Kenneth Gnoss to serve 8 years in state prison after a Sonoma County jury found him guilty as charged in April to charges including domestic violence with great bodily injury.

District Attorney Rodriguez stated, “Domestic violence is uniquely dangerous because it often escalates behind closed doors through fear, intimidation, and control, leaving victims trapped in cycles of violence that make seeking help or participating in the justice system extraordinarily difficult. This sentence reflects the gravity of this defendant’s violent conduct and sends a message that our office will continue to hold domestic violence offenders accountable.”

The charges resulted from an October 1, 2025 incident in Windsor during which Omrado-Gonzalez confronted the victim in a grocery store parking, repeatedly threatened to kill her and “slice” her face, and ultimately slashed the victim’s leg with a utility knife, causing a deep wound. Fearing further violence, the victim jumped from the moving vehicle while Omrado-Gonzalez fled the scene, leaving her bleeding in the roadway. A passing motorist stopped to assist.

When contacted by Sheriff’s Deputies, Omrado-Gonzalez repeatedly attempted to conceal his identity by providing a false name. At the time of these offenses, Omrado-Gonzalez was on felony probation out of Santa Cruz County for second-degree burglary.

When handing down the 8-year prison sentence, Judge Gnoss stated, “Quite honestly, you’re lucky that the extent of the injury was to her leg and not a more important part of her body, when you basically sliced her.”

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Matt Hobson, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Hector DeLeon. The Windsor Police Department headed the investigation.
