Santa Rosa Child Molester Sentenced to Life in Prison

SANTA ROSA, CA | April 07, 2026

Gabriel Sanchez, 26 years old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced today by the Honorable Kristine Burk to serve a term of 35 years to life in state prison after pleading “no contest” in March of this year to six separate charges including committing a lewd act upon a child under the age of 14; committing a lewd act upon a child by force, fear, or duress; contacting a child for the purpose of child molestation; and manufacturing of child pornography. Sanchez’s six convictions related to three different victims.

The charges began with a traffic stop in 2023 by Santa Rosa Police during which Sanchez was found to be driving alone with a 13-year-old girl. A subsequent investigation established that Sanchez had been molesting the child for weeks, including using her to create child pornography. While Sanchez was held in custody pending trial, two more girls came forward describing similar abuse. Detectives established that Sanchez had contacted each victim online during previous years using coercion, flattery, and drugs to perpetrate numerous acts of molestation and sexual assault, and the charges were amended to add the additional crimes.

At today’s sentencing, one of the young women told the court that she had stayed with the case so long not just for herself, but for the other victims who had been abused by Sanchez. Before pronouncing sentence, Judge Burk confronted Sanchez for targeting the most vulnerable youth in the community and making their lives “a thousand times worse.” She urged him to dwell on his actions while serving 35 years to life in prison. Sanchez was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life if released on parole.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Brian Morimune. Detective Matthew Sanchez of the Santa Rosa Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit headed the investigation.
