Defendant Donald Jackson Sentenced to Twenty Years in Prison for September 2017 Pharmacy Robbery

Defendant Donald Ray Alton Jackson, 29 years old of Oakland, was sentenced today by the Honorable Knoel Owen to 20 years in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for a September 28, 2017 robbery that occurred at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Santa Rosa.

On September 28, 2017, Jackson entered the pharmacy, located at 955 Stony Point Road, brandished a handgun, and demanded money from the store clerk. The clerk complied, and Jackson left the store on foot. Although the clerk could not pick Jackson out of a photo lineup of potential suspects, Jackson was identified in part by forensic evidence collected by law enforcement at the pharmacy.

Due to Jackson’s prior criminal history, which includes two prior robbery convictions, he will be required to serve at least 85 percent of this 20-year sentence before he is eligible for parole.

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “This defendant has repeatedly demonstrated that he has little regard for the safety and property of others in this community. His prior significant criminal history, coupled with the seriousness of the current offense justify a lengthy prison sentence in this case.”

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Bertz. Detective Joseph Bjornstrom of the Santa Rosa Police Department headed the investigation.
