Santa Rosa Man Sentenced to Prison for Attempted Murder

Defendant Quentin Bernard Bowen, 28 years old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced today by the Honorable Peter Ottenweller to a term of life in prison with the possibility of parole after eleven years following his conviction by a jury for the charge of attempted murder including great bodily injury and weapon enhancements.

The charge resulted from an attack on March 31, 2017 off of Fulton Road in Santa Rosa. On that date the defendant came over to the 64 year old victim’s residence to see his own dog, which the victim had been caring for. A few hours into the visit, with no warning, the defendant attacked the victim from behind, hitting him on the head with a rock, then stabbing him in the neck as the victim turned. The defendant continued to stab the victim in the neck and chest before the victim managed to escape, running down his driveway towards a nearby school. The defendant fled the scene, but was caught a few hours later near a Santa Rosa creek bed. The victim suffered a total of eight stab wounds requiring many staples and stiches.

District Attorney Ravitch said, “This was an unprovoked and brutal attack. We believe justice was served with the substantial prison sentence imposed on this defendant.”

The defendant was sentenced to the maximum possible term of imprisonment under the law. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ashley Hendon, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Robyn Katz. Officer Ryan Cadaret of the Santa Rosa Police Department headed the investigation.
