Santa Rosa Man Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Domestic Violence-Related Assault

Defendant Robert Anthony Ventura, 45 years old of Santa Rosa, was summarily sentenced to six years in state prison on Thursday, December 26, by the Honorable Mark Urioste after pleading no contest to one count of felony domestic assault, and one count of felony vandalism. 

The charges resulted from an August 2019 incident involving Ventura’s ex-girlfriend who was sitting with a female acquaintance in her parked car as they waited for their children at a bus stop.  Ventura drove up and parked nearby before walking to the vehicle and throwing a rock through the closed window. The acquaintance, who was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the assault, was subsequently injured.  Upon being contacted by law enforcement, the ex-girlfriend reported that she and the defendant had recently broken up. 

In addition to pleading no contest to the two offenses, Ventura also admitted two prior “strike” convictions, including a 2003 conviction for robbery and a 2008 conviction for domestic violence-related criminal threats.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Matt Hubley, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Greg Wojcik. Deputy Andrew Gaylord of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department handled the investigation.
