DISTRICT ATTORNEY RODRIGUEZ’S STATEMENT REGARDING MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL STABBING

SANTA ROSA, CA | March 02, 2023

Dear Community,

I am writing to acknowledge the significant impact that the recent stabbing at Montgomery High School has had on our community.

As the District Attorney, I want to assure you my staff and I will be exhaustive in our investigation and analysis of the incident. We will work closely with the Santa Rosa Police Department to identify and evaluate all available evidence. A decision to file charges will be based on the available information and relevant law. As always, our goal is to seek justice for crime victims and the community at large.  We will do our best to provide timely information regarding our decisions. However, please keep in mind that my ability to share information is regulated by safeguards protecting the privacy rights of minors.

I understand that many have expressed concerns about the safety of our schools. All students deserve to learn in a safe and supportive environment. My office will continue to work collaboratively with the school district, law enforcement, and community partners to support the well-being of our young people and to keep our schools safe.

I know this is a difficult time for everyone. The District Attorney’s Office wishes to offer its support to the family, students, faculty, and community members affected by this tragedy. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served so that our community can begin the healing process.

Sincerely,

Carla Rodriguez
