SONOMA COUNTY PROCLAIMS MARCH AS FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER AWARENESS MONTH AND ANNOUNCES SURVIVOR ETERNITY GARDEN EVENT

SANTA ROSA, CA | March 22, 2023

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has officially proclaimed March 2023 as Family Justice Center Awareness Month, to raise awareness about the vital services provided by the Family Justice Center Sonoma County (FJCSC).  The Family Justice Center is a place where victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking can receive comprehensive services under one roof. The FJC model was created in San Diego in 2002 and has since been replicated in over 100 locations worldwide.

Sonoma County's proclamation recognizes the importance of raising awareness of the services available at the Sonoma County Family Justice Center. The Center provides a safe and supportive environment for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking. Services available at the Center include legal assistance, safety planning, trauma support, and advocacy.

During the month of March, the FJC will be hosting a series of events and activities to promote awareness and education about domestic violence and abuse. The events will be open to the public and will include presentations, panel discussions, and other activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of ending domestic violence and supporting survivors.

Additionally, the Sonoma County Family Justice Center is proud to announce the Survivor Eternity Garden event, taking place on March 30th at 6:30pm. The Survivor Eternity Garden event is a special event in honor of survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking. The event will feature 2000 solar flowers illuminating the courtyard square to represent the 2000+ survivors who receive services at the Family Justice Center annually.

"We are excited to host the Survivor Eternity Garden event and celebrate the resilience and strength of survivors," said Sonoma County District Attorney, Carla Rodriguez. "This event is an opportunity to raise awareness about the services available at the Sonoma County Family Justice Center and honor the survivors who have found safety and support through our services."

The Sonoma County Family Justice Center encourages community members to attend the Survivor Eternity Garden event on March 30th at 6pm at Courtyard Square, located between 4th and 3rd street in downtown Santa Rosa. The event is free and open to the public.

"We encourage community members to learn more about the Family Justice Center and the services we provide," said Executive Director, Marsha Lucien. "Together, we can work towards a future free from violence."
